Held at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater, this prestigious event runs for approximately one month, with multiple performances daily.
It is one of Kyoto’s most iconic spring traditions.

The performance features maiko and geiko from Gion Kobu, one of Kyoto’s five traditional districts.
Each year follows a unique theme, expressed through elaborate costumes, refined choreography, and classical Japanese staging.

For over 150 years, the Miyako Odori has continued without interruption, attracting visitors from across Japan and around the world.

Maiko typically begin their training around age 15 and undergo years of rigorous practice before appearing on stage.
Today, there are approximately 400 maiko and geiko across Kyoto, making their presence increasingly rare and culturally significant.

Through our trusted connections, we can also arrange access to exclusive dining establishments where maiko and geiko are present — venues accessible by personal introduction only.

Combine exceptional spring touring with an authentic cultural experience found nowhere else.

We warmly invite you to plan your April journey to Kyoto.
